About Me

Lillian Ankrah, ATR-BC, LCAT is a Ghanaian-American Art Psychotherapist who has twenty years of experience working with people from all walks of life. Having a bi-cultural experience due to being from an immigrant family, Lillian has always had a deep sense of compassion for the experiences of others and worked to help others feel safe and accepted. Her professional resume spans from adult in-patient psychiatric treatment, pediatric oncology treatment, adolescent mothers in congregate foster care to survivors of domestic violence seeking safety for their families.  Her approach to therapy is client-centered, trauma-informed, culturally sensitive and rooted in social justice, advocacy, and empowerment for the people she works with. Lillian is skilled in engaging those new to therapy in the therapeutic process through providing a safe, holding space for them to be vulnerable, address their challenges and grow. She is highly skilled in addressing and treating trauma with art therapy, guided imagery/meditation, and is fully trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy and Brainspotting. Lillian is also a trained meditation teacher and a Level I Sound healer. Lillian earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia and then obtained her master’s degree in Art Therapy and Creativity Development from Pratt Institute. In addition to practicing psychotherapy, Lillian is an international speaker and trainer, who aspires to become an author. Lillian enjoys live music, creating art, traveling, exploring different cities and cuisines, spending time with her big family and is a proud plant momma.

What People Are Saying

Lillian’s voice is so soothing. I wish I could record her for my guided meditations at home! Thank you for helping me find some stillness when I really needed it.

My child really blossomed from working with Lillian. She’s more confident in how she expresses herself and we feel confident that she will keep using the skills she learned in therapy to hold her boundaries and speak up for herself.

I tell everyone to get a therapist because of what I’ve gained from our sessions. Investing in yourself is always a good move!
